Since so many of us are getting excited about v4 coming soon, I thought I'd start a post and try to get this forum active again! ;D
So...let's start with our goals for our Appys - what are you planning on specifically doing with them?
I'm planning on breeding for chestnuts, sorrels, and bays with any Lp/ patterns, but I'd like to try for more Leopards this time around! I'm not sure yet if I want to aim toward specific disciplines - I must admit that I like some variety in my herd when it comes to that!

I'm keeping most of my original goals, Lp/- , no faults, duns, grullas, buckskins, high stats. Also going to try to keep cowsense in my stock this time rather than trying to add it at the last minute. I'd love to get stats that are in line with rodeo or western.
Of course, currently I'm showing the hearts out of my little appies I do have till the end of V3. -Blue.

My goals are mostly to get good rodeo horses with traits, and then im a huge fan of the Lp patterns, and colors like dun, bay etc etc. ;D

Well, as I've got a bit of an obsession with bays, one goal is to breed a bay based herd with many, many leopards if I'm lucky. I aim to breed for cow sense and for stats which will put them in good standing for Rodeo and Western showing, though at first I expect I'll give just about anyone a try in pretty much any class just to see what showing is like when everybody is on the same page ^_^
I'm going to do things very differently this time around, now that I know where I went wrong the last time. I'm also going to do my best to refrain from crossbreeding; I'm only going to use horses that are Appy all the way down the line and Locals in my program to add to the challenge a bit.

I'm switching some of my breeds around and am dedicating one ranch to Appys.
I'm going to breed for correct patterns, no greys or jet blacks. And I'm also going to get a couple customs (probably one few spot and one snow cap.
I'm debating on weather or not to allow crosses or not, it kind of depends on what the other appy breeders are going for. And I plan on breeding for k/k, D/-, maybe some Z/-. While breeding out faults, and breeding in special traits.

I'm excited to start over! I hope to breed for a variety of colors (haven't narrowed that down yet) with proper patterning (Lp/-) , and hopefully for performance in rodeo and western (especially western pleasure). I personally am not a fan of pintaloosa patterns (which aren't correct anyway) and hope to not have any in my barn.
I started with ER in the beginning of May 2006 so I am still new to breeding and will be asking for help in V4 to get some of the harder base colors and stats for certain disciplines.

I just found this link and joined up. ;D I'm going to be aiming for properly patterned horses in a variety of colors, aiming mostly for k/k horses. I also plan to focus on high conformation and temperament stats.

Hello ;D Like EchoAcres, stats wise, I would like to focus on high conformation and temperament, but also intelligence. Colour wise I will do as I did before, aim for k/k horses, no roans or greys, with a primary focus on dark/rare colour versions. I'm going to aim for proper patterns or solid only As for keeping the lines pure I'm still not 100% decided.. I was thinking of keep a percentage of my heard completely pure so that I could always add 'pure' appaloosa blood into my lines if some start to become too diluted.. So I probably will crossbreed the majority of my horses, depending on what kind of appy stallions are about compared to those of other breeds.. If they other breeds fit my program better, I'll use them

I'm going to go for proper patterns in the Bay and Buckskin and Chestnut colors- with pure lines, of course.

same as v3, i'll be going for high stats and proper patterning in my appies, along with whatever colors strike me as interesting (striving for no grays, brindles, or jet blacks). ideally i'd like to work the special traits of heart and presence into my lines. i'll also be ordering two custom imports in order to help boost colors/patterns.
like others have said, i'm somewhat undecided about keeping my lines pure. i'll probably do as MoonlitDawn said and keep a percentage of the lines appy-only and outcross the rest, because i know there will be a large demand for pure apps in the new version.

I wont be aiming for a specific colour, but a specific pattern. Lp and such. I want to breed for high stats, cow sense and horses that will compete/show well in rodeo and western classes. I want to try to keep my lines as pure as possible (no crosses)
