Hehe, I was thinking about a half purebred half cross bred herd as soon as I heard about the reset! ;D I'm still not 100% on whether I'll cross at all though.. I think it will really depend on what I import and buy, and what the stallions are like... It does seem as though being a 'purebred' will add value to the appaloosas of V4 *ponders*

Actually, I've been thinking about this again just a little. And I WILL have that pure ranch, but my crossbred ranch will only be crossbred earily on, then make proven lines.
I am curious though as to if it will effect the value the horses any, monitarily or breeding quality. Would someone who does outbreeding pay any more for a proven line vs. a pure line or a crossed line? I know pure line breeders will only go for pure lined horses, which make the proven and cross lines insufficent for that particular breeding purpose. But those of us who are allowing crosses for certain ranches or breeding herds, which would you rather pay more for: a good horse that's cross lines, proven lines, pure lines? That and for those allowing limited crossbreeding, do you have plans for creating a proven line?
I'm just curious with thoughts on everyone's plans, it's amusing! ;D

I have two ranches one for pure lines and one for cross breds.

I'm just starting to breed my appys and I want to breed for the Lp gene. My mare has it but not my stud and I'm just having a hard time finding an Lp carrier stud for sale/auction to start my serious breeding with... sigh. Well, he'll turn up sometime. But I defininitely want to keep to pure appys! Glad I'm not the only one. Having everyone else working on it as well means that there will be more and more available!

Well, on SHG I've got a ranch that's all purelined. I closed my crossbred ranch down. Too many ranches, not enough time.
I've been crossbreeding on ER from time to time to get what I want. Going to try a few other little bits of breeding tricks to see if I can get some better rodeo appies.
